I need a really awesome gift idea for boyfriends dad?...

...My boyfriends dad is giving me a car to help me out since mine is currently broken. I really appreciate that he is doing this and I want to repay him. I'm not sure how so any ideas? PS I dont have a lot of money but I want it to be a really great thoughtful gift. Thanks!

"I tell you what... Gift Cards are the best gift. I'm not sure what he likes. But if there's an available gift card to purchase there. Then get it!!! You save time having to go crazy thinking of what to get and the person you get it for can choose what they like. i.e. Wal Mart gift card, etc, etc... Like me.... I love movie theater gift cards!!! Yay! for gift cards!! lol"

Gift Ideas for a 5-6 year old girl?...

...My boyfriends niece is going to be either 5 or 6 (cant remember) next month. I have already decided on a gift card to Toys R Us...but I was thinking that I could get her something more from me. I was thinking maybe a robo dog..does anyone know if kids really like those??
I also thought about a sticker book, or maybe cosmetic kit (hello kitty lotion, lip balm, etc...) kiddie cosmetics of course....

"It depends. If the child is girlish she may love a barbie or a hello kitty cosmetics kit, one of those "smart" dog robots that bark when told are very nice too. I would also consider buying her a dollhouse(if she has many dolls). But a gift comes from the heart, and children usually appreciate a gift anytime."

Need gift ideas for Muslim friends?...

...My husband is currently deployed overseas, and has a Islamic interpreter who has been so very helpful to my husband and I. He has recently given beautiful gifts to me and my husband and I would like to return the favor by sending him something unique and family oriented, but I do not want to overstep the boundaries of his Islamic faith. What would be a good gift idea to give to him and his family, without being offensive to his beliefs?

Please keep in mind I am sending this overseas, and it needs to travel well. Thank you!

"What a nice idea. I would say to just stay away from something that contains or concerns alcohol, pork, nudity, something too personal, Christian or Jewish themed items/tones, etc. If they have children, I would stay away from some of the BRATS, Barbie, and other types of dolls or overly violent games. I had once purchased a back-pack with Tinkerbell on it and I got a raised eyebrow from the mother until she realized it was a "Fairy." She had come across other Disney Characters, but not Tinkerbell. I have found that coloring books for children are good (unless they are Precious Moments). My friend's daughter also really liked My Little Pony.

Does the family include a small child and would like to send a Pooh Bear? Is there something unique from your hometown/country that would be special? Is there something that the family cant get, but would like? I once had my one friend beg me for an adapter that would allow his iPod to play over his car radio b/c he couldn't get anything from Apple in Iraq. He also asked for a hat from a local university.

I'm not sure if you are American or not, but some things that might be good would be a hand-made quilt or needlepoint, perhaps a hand-made shaker basket or other type of American made basket, perhaps some toys for the kids, what about an American cookbook with measuring cups and spoons? I gave a friend a Bundt Cake pan, a recipe book, and a mix; they seemed to like it. Perhaps some native American jewelry or the like. Is there something from your state that is specific? For example, Vermont has those great Maple Syrup hard candies. If they have small kids maybe a Winnie the Pooh or Mickey Mouse would be good. Also some Dr. Seuss books might be a cute idea.

Before you think about what would be appropriate, first think about what you would like to get the family. And then, think about would it be offensive. I have found that we are more similar than different.

Good luck!"

What's a good gift to give a friend's son who is graduating high school in two weeks?...

...I haven't seen my friend for 5 years or more but got an invitation to attend her son's graduation. They don't have any other family in the area so I will be the only guest attending and I'd like to bring a gift. But, what is a good gift idea that won't seem too much but will still be appreciated by an 18-year old boy?

"cash. gift cards.. something that anybody would find useful. kids are really picky so dont go for the clothes, or shoes or anything like that..=]"

I think I have the PERFECT fathers day gift... what do you think?...

...My husband recently got a job as an IT and is always having to get fast food on his lunch break bucause he can never get out for lunch durning the time the cafeiteria is open.

This is making an impact on our wallets and I would like to be able to cook him more meals. The fact he has to leave at 5 a.m. and lunch isn't almost till 2 p.m. makes me worry the food would taste pretty awful.

Anyway, here is my awesome idea. At www.thinkgeek.com there is a minifridge that duels over into a mini oven that gets up to 140 degrees.
Here is the link http://www.thinkgeek.com/homeoffice/gear/6ad2/

He is also a HUGE soda drinker so he could store his vaste amount of Pepsi in them! :P

Tell me what you think. I really want to lean to something more towards the office because he is so proud of the fact he has one.

Please and thank you everyone :D

"That really does sound perfect, and it proves that you are thinking about him and his needs. Good job!"

Need a Graduation Gift Idea for my wife 40 years old graduating with her Associates?...

...She has been going to school on and off for 22 years while raising our kids. Just finished her Associates, want to get her something meaningful, not fancy. Please help, I'm helpless.

"Congrats to her!

That's a tough one without knowing her - I have no idea what she would think is "meaningful."

How about something that you can engrave a nice sentiment on?

A watch? bracelet? piece of silver? leather bound journal?"

I need a creative valentine's gift idea for my girl, we're in a long distance relationship- Can't see her!...

...We've known eachother for a long time, and dated for over three years. Right now she is over 500 miles away, and we won't be able to see eachother until next month.

She's a 20 year old college student. I want to send her or do something really creative for Valentines Day. I'd like to make her laugh at the very least. It doesn't really matter if it's something expenive or cheap. I don't want to get her the regular jewerly, perfume or a gift card type of thing though.

Anybody have a good idea or can point me to a good website? Thanks a lot

"A plane ticket there to see her or vice-versa..."

Is this a good wedding gift idea?...

...My friend is getting married in about two weeks and I have no idea what to buy her. I write poetry, so I was thinking of maybe writing a poem for her, and getting it framed. Is this a good idea?
she does not have a gift registry anywhere.

"To be honest-when you are first married, you need a lot of stuff. I got a few decorative things but needed cookie sheets and utensils that no one had gotten me. I think the gesture is nice but perhaps pair it with something practical from her gift list.

She might enjoy it! But also think about her having a new home to fill."

"When I feel really bad/sad I always feel better with some flowers. Flowers brighten up any room and they smell amazing. Don't get her roses though, especially if you're not romantically involved. A nice mixed bouquet would be nice, and if you think flowers are too much. You could get her a pretty flowering house plant. Attach a tiny card saying something about, heard she had a bad week and thought that this might brighten up her day, or be a good way to make a bad week bearable.
Its really sweet that you want to do this for her."
(answered by mydragonmoon)

"Why "buy" her anything? You don't want to start off a relationship by thinking that you have to buy her something.

I know you want to help her because she had a bad week last week, but what about just a nice romantic dinner.
A nice relaxing night.
If you can cook, that would be wonderful.
If not, what about a nice walk on the beach or in a park.
"Do" something nice for her. Don't feel that you have to "buy" something nice for her. ;)"
(answered by MommaBear)

"Aww... a beautiful bouquet of flowers is always appreciated. Don't go with strictly roses or some cheap bouquet from the grocery store. Go to a florist and say you want some stargazer lillies in the bunch (they smell wonderful-- all women love lillies). Then, have them delivered to her with a sweet note. :)"
(answered by Laura)

"Make her something. Anything handmade always means more to girls. Maybe bake some cookies or bead her a bracelet? the materials for those are always really cheap, and it doesn't even have to look good, as long as you made it for her to make her week better."

"You can't fail with a gift certificate for a major book store (we LOVE books! And it's an innocent gift with MAJOR potential). To make it all the more special (and personal) go online and find a template for a generic gift certificate as well. For that one, indicate that's it's for a "'fun day' anywhere" and throw in some check boxes for a dinner, lunch, movie, or video at home (put in her favorite movie) for before or after her trip to the book store. Tell her to choose anything she wants, or choose for her the new Harry Potter Book (or the first in the series, if she is new to it), and treat her to a home viewing of the first movie in the series (with more to follow). If you like her, she will see this as an innocent gesture with the potential for more."

What is a good "big" gift idea for parents to give to a 1 year old boy?...

...Originally we were going to get him a toy box, but his grandpa is making one instead. He already has pull/ride on toys. We bought him some clothes, but looking for a BIG gift idea. Thinking of buying another savings bond, but we buy him those every 6 months, so another wouldn't seem that spectacular. Anyone have any other ideas?
(question posted on 2006-10-08 17:49:53)

"Hi! Our son just turned one on Sept. 14th. We got him Big Knob puzzles, books, clothes, etc. But his 'big gift' was one of those Kangaroo climbers (Made by Step2). He just loves it! He is just a bit short to get himself up onto the platform by himself, so we put a non-slip footstool underneath. Now he can climb up by himself. He can't get enough of it!! Another idea to consider is the SwingAlong Castle (Made by Little Tikes). We thought about this one, but our son already had a swing. So we went with the other one. They can play with both of these until they are about 4. So they both would get a lot of use. Both can be used indoors or out. We have our son's indoors now since it is getting cold outside. We put an interlocking foam play-mat underneath, so he has a soft landing when he slides. I included two links so you can see what both items look like. I hope this helps. Enjoy your son. It's such a wonderful time and it goes so fast!"

"Why not give them a hamper filled with dish towels, cooking utensils, bath towels, cleaning supplies, scented candles, things they will need for the home. My best friend told me that was the best gift she had received. Money is the best gift if you want to give them something they will use and not put in the closet or a yard sale."

I need a gift idea to give my boyfriend just because?

(question posted on 2006-07-26 13:05:43)

"Cooking him dinner or a nice meal is always a great and welcome thing to do. Don't forget dessert. However I'm really not sure of your age, or if you are even sexual active, but a terrific anytime (any reason) gift is to give him a BJ (bl*w-j*b, go down on him). It costs absolutely nothing and it's fun. Besides that, if you do it right, he'll love it... and maybe even return the favor. Enjoy. Good luck."

...I've been with my boyfriend for two years, we have a 6 month old son together. I want to get him a gift that lets him know that I really love him and I would like to do it any day. It doesn't have to be a certain occassion. In November, he bought a new Lexus LS. How do you think he would feel if I borrowed his car one day and had satelite radio(Sirius) installed. If this is not a good idea, please give some suggestions.

What are some good thank you gift ideas?...

...My family and I are moving out of our neighborhood at the end of the month. Our neighbors have been wonderful friends during our time here, and I wanted to get them a gift to thank them for everything. Ideas can be for the whole family, or just the lady of the house. There are two sets of families, one with husband, wife and an 11 month old baby boy, and one with husband, wife, and two boys, one adolescent, one pre-adolescent. Thanks for your help!
While a framed picture of our families together would be a wonderful idea, we don't have any such pictures. And as for the thank you card, that's a given, I just thought that a nice gift would be the icing on the cake. And I know it's not very "Martha Stewart" of me, but I just don't care to make things. I don't have the time.

(question posted on 2006-08-08 20:07:48)

"Why not incorporate both into one - get a babysitter for the kids, and take both couples out for a thankyou meal - that way you can keep it as a neigbourly group thing to do, and take photos of the six of you enjoying yourselves while you are out - a framed copy of the best pic for all three households will hold more meaning than any store-bought item, and you all get a night out to remember!"
